To get in these shows you must

a. Be a Premium subscriber with a commitment to 1 year term

NOTE: Credits and payment options avail to suit your needs, I don’t want this to exclude you so let’s work it out)

b. Be able to legally pre-clear all music you send 100% NO EXCEPTIONS in the SmashHaus Catalog

NOTE: If you cannot sign the agreement with only your signature and legally clear this music. DON’T SEND IT!

c. Provide vocal and instrumental versions of all submissions (when requested)

d. All music must be submitted in system, we will request final delivery after mp3s shortlisted.

HOW IT WORKS:

SmashHaus is creating a pre-cleared catalog that we will instantly distribute into the various active TV shows that we work on directly. In some cases we manage all music, in others, we broker a deal that covers single or blanket catalog uses. In all cases SmashHaus pays 100% of all income companies to offer for music to SmashHaus talent who appear in these shows prorated by the amount of time they appear in the show against the total budget.

RIGHTS YOU GRANT TO SMASHHAUS:

You allow us the right to broker deals on your behalf. Because we pass all income through to you, we try to broker the best deals we can for you and there is no benefit to us not doing so. In this way, we remove the abuse often seen in production music where companies give your music away to gain market share and more residuals. We do not do this, nor do we ever pursue free or gratis deals.

You provide us music that only you own and control to avoid any issues later that could a. Ruin your career and b. Ruin ours. Don’t do it, make sure the music is 100% controlled by you or don’t send it. We will hold you legally liable for any issues that arise later from mystery writers or other publishers who may have ownership of your songs that you did not make us aware of. This is very important to avoid getting blacklisted in the biz and with SmashHaus.

OUR PROMISE: We will work directly with all premium members to assure you the highest likelihood of getting your music in these shows. WE WILL GET YOU IN! We will not ever give your music away for free or do any Gratis, back end only deals. All SmashHaus jobs must carry an upfront fee for us to accept them for you.

TYPES OF DEALS WE TYPICALLY BROKER ON YOUR BEHALF:

Blanket deals - The industry standard for production music, In most cases is a blanket fee that covers the use of the catalog for the show or series. This is what production music catalogs do to provide “source music”.

HOW SMASHHAUS PAYS OUT ON BLANKET DEALS:

BLANKET DEALS: 100% of the music budget will be paid to all music makers, prorated by the time their music appears in the final product as represented on the cue sheets provided to us by Production Companies.

EXAMPLE: If the music budget is 10,000 and 100 songs appear in the series and you placed 2 of the songs for a total of 10 minutes of music. You would earn 10% of $10,000 = $1,000.

Needledrop - These are fees paid for each instance your song is placed in a show. For example, If the deal is $5,000 per Needledrop and you have your song in two different scenes of a show, you earn $10,000…

HOW YOU GET PAID ON NEEDLEDROP DEALS:

The Company makes and offer, you contract directly with them, do the work, they pay you. We are not involved.

Custom - In some cases, you will be called on to create custom work as a commission or work for hire. This means you will be paid a fee to create something specifically for that project. In this case, the ownership and rights will be negotiated and price often dictates what rights you will give up or keep. In this scenario, we can directly connect you with the buyer or licensor or help you negotiate on your behalf to ensure you maximize the deal to your benefit. There is no extra fee for this service if you are paying subscriber.

HOW YOU GET PAID ON CUSTOM DEALS:

The Company makes and offer, you contract directly with them, do the work, they pay you. We are not involved.

NOTE: In the event one of our Company Partners wishes to take a percentage of the publishing or other rights, you will be notified and it will be 100% clear that that is the deal should you choose to opt into it. In some situations, you will get preferred usage (more usage, more money) by giving some of the song's value to the production company as an incentive. This is the case with companies that are building internal catalogs as a way to offset the need for external catalogs and build value in house. If this is the case, you will know it and have the opportunity to opt-in or not. It will be 100% your call and clear when these situations happen.
